Social Responsibility

Together We Can Make A Difference

Did you know that 537 million adults are living with diabetes? This number is predicted to rise to 783 million by 2045. Something needs to change. Understanding diabetes is the first step to managing and preventing the condition.

The foundation of Saladmaster is built on helping others and changing lives – that’s why Saladmaster gives back to global diabetes awareness organizations such as the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), to help their mission to promote diabetes care, prevention, and a cure worldwide.

The IDF is an umbrella organization of over 240 national diabetes associations in 160 countries and territories. It represents the interests of the growing number of people with diabetes and those at risk and has been leading the global diabetes community since 1950. The IDF is engaged in action to tackle diabetes from the local to the global level ― from programs at community level to worldwide awareness and advocacy initiatives.

The Federation’s activities aim to increase public awareness and encourage health improvement, promote the exchange of high-quality information about diabetes, and provide education for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers. IDF is associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations and is in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).

We are proud to be partnering with this organization to help bring awareness to diabetes. To learn more about diabetes prevention or how you can join the fight against diabetes in your community, visit www.idf.org

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND PARTNERSHIPS

Community partners transforming lives

At Saladmaster, we believe that if you invest in people and improve their lives, you can change the world. Our commitment to being a socially responsible and impactful organization goes beyond one-off initiatives. We are passionate about being a force for good. It is part of our overall business strategy and a pillar of our daily operations.

We are honored to partner with exceptional organizations that improve the lives of people around the world.

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) promotes preventive medicine and healthy eating, conducts clinical research, and encourages high standards of research. PCRM’s team of specialists, including physicians, nurses, and dietitians, helps promote disease prevention and survival through nutrition education and research. The Saladmaster Nutritional Cooking System is used in PCRM’s Food for Life nutrition and cooking classes to teach how certain foods and nutrients work together to prevent disease, accompanied by cooking demonstrations with healthy, delicious recipes that are easy to make at home. Saladmaster partners with PCRM by offering Food for Life classes to educate the public about the healing power of food and practicing good eating practices. Contact your local Saladmaster dealer to find out when the next Food for Life cooking class is available. www.pcrm.org.

Distribution of cookers in Nigeria

More than two million people have been displaced from their homes due to terrorist attacks in Nigeria. Roshan Global Services, in partnership with Saladmaster, is distributing cookstoves to displaced women. The cookstoves use less fuel and emit less smoke, making them cleaner and more efficient. The cookstoves allow women to cook for their families in a cleaner way after being displaced from their homes. This is one of the ways Saladmaster is improving the quality of life for people around the world. “We are here to provide comfort to these displaced families,” said Happy Amos, CEO of Roshan Global Services. “With our incredible partner Saladmaster, these people now have cookstoves that use less oil and emit less smoke. Their lives will be improved.”

Kalinga Community Development Foundation Award

About half of the Philippines’ 88 million people live in rural areas. Poverty is most severe and widespread in these areas. About 80 percent of the country’s poor live there. Agriculture is the main and often the only source of income. The majority rely on subsistence farming and fishing for their livelihoods.

Saladmaster partnered with Gawad Kalinga, an organization that aims to eliminate poverty in the Philippines, to build a village in Putotan, Iloilo. We provided quality housing and the infrastructure needed to support the residents there. Over 64 families received homes. More homes are under construction and the goal is to build 100 homes in the village. There is no better reflection of Saladmaster’s motto, “We Transform Lives,” than the combined efforts of our team members on this initiative. “Gawad Kalinga” translated means “to give care.” www.gk1world.com.
